


Artist Bio
Matthew Thomson is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator who completed his BFA (Studio Arts) in 2007 and his MFA (Print Media) in 2013. He also completed his BFA Specialization in Art Education in 2020. Matthew has had solo exhibitions at Ymuno Exhibitions (Montreal) and the Flea Market Gallery (St-Catherine’s, ON), and has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions at venues such as Art Mûr, Espace Cercle-Carré, the Maison de la Culture Frontenac and the FOFA Gallery. Matthew has also exhibited work during Art Souterrain 2013 (Eaton’s Centre) and 2017 (Warren G. Flowers Gallery). Thomson's artworks -poetic rearticulations of discarded objects from the street- are part of numerous private collections and have been featured in publications such as the InARTE Journal (2017 and 2018) and POIESIS XV (2013).
Thomson, who currently teaches Art and other school subjects at FACE EMSB, has taught Visual Art in elementary and high schools in the private and public systems since 2015. He also taught Visual Art to learners of all ages at the Westmount Visual Arts Centre from 2013-2020.
